📅 Monthly Update: March 2024
Hey hey readers! 👋
This has been a quiet month for me on the writing front. Last week I didn’t post the planned chapters so my Calendar's timeline has been pushed out a week. I started a new position on a new team at work this month, so I’ve really just been focused on trying to act like I know wtf I’m doing there and it’s left me a little burned out.
I thought I had spreadsheetin’ all figured out and then I started learning Tableau! 💀
Anyway, long story short: the only truly new content is some light, fluffy worldbuilding for the mirror-like planets in my fictional Luxar System, including custom-designed flags I made myself for each planet, and some AI-generated art fleshing out each planet’s key features. I had fun with it.
🔃 In Progress
📘 The Star Pirate’s Folly
It’s a vengeful space-opera tale inspired by Foundation, The Princess Bride, Ender’s Game, Treasure Island, Dune, and believe it or not, The Mariner’s Revenge Song…
📘The Star Pirate’s Folly — α | 1 | 2 | 3 | … | 27 | 28 | 29
The Star Pirate’s Folly will stay available in full, free on Substack until June 1, 2024.
❗❗ Upcoming:
I’ve let Wes Jackson rest long enough. It’s time to pick up his adventure again and weave together this squeamish side story within the larger narrative in The Star Pirate’s Folly.
The decades-old local industry of psychoactive honey harvesting has allowed Royal Lotus Company to grow deep roots within Overlook City. But it’s a delicate and exhaustible resource to manage; when the lotus groves come under threat, it’s up to a dedicated few to prevent disaster.
Then we’ll get back to Bee’s story in The Star Pirate’s Return, Book 2 of the Surface Trilogy. I know sequels can go either way, but I’m really hoping that this one will be a true improvement and expansion of the original book. Now that I’m older and rustier and more distracted, what could go wrong?
🎁 Bonus Content:
I saw Dune: Part 2, which was incredible and will definitely not be the last time I watch it. But what’s equally incredible is this guy’s Trumpian Shai-Hulud impression, the references are on point and it’s probably the funniest thing I’ve seen all year:

I don't know any of the quotes this time, boo. Unless the one that starts "Kaneda" is from Dances With Wolves?
